June 2, 2014
MINUTES
A meeting of the Ordinance Committee of the City Council met on
Monday, June 2, 2014, in City Hall room 215. Those in attendance
included: Councilman Gregg Cogswell, Councilman Paul Cavagnero, and
Councilwoman Anne Ruwett, and Corporation Counsel Raymond J. Rigat.
The meeting came to order at 6:03 p.m.
I.
Proposed Municipal Ordinance on Designating Public Safety
Intersections in Accordance with Public Act 09-171.
There was discussion on the amount of the fine for violation of the
ordinance.
Councilwoman Ruwett moved that the item be presented for City
Council consideration and public hearing with a proposed fine of $30 for
the first infraction and a proposed fine of $ 60.00 for any subsequent
violation.
The motion passed unanimously.
II.
Proposed Property Tax Exemption for Class 1 Renewable Energy Projects.
Councilwoman Ruwett observed that the Council should move forward with respect to tax abatements, and not backwards.
No action was taken on this item.
III.
Proposed Changes to Chapter 12 of the City Ordinances- “Commission on Services for the Elderly.”
The draft of the proposed ordinance was discussed.
Councilman Cavagneri moved to present the draft ordinance to the City Council for consideration and public hearing. Councilwoman Ruwett seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
Councilman Cavagneri moved to adjourn, seconded by Councilwoman Ruwett. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:29 p.m.
